An excessive heat warning is in effect for the Portland region, Southwest Washington and the Willamette Valley starting at 11 a.m. Sunday through 11 p.m. Wednesday.

High temperatures in the triple digits will make the next few days dangerous to vulnerable humans who work in hot locations or lack air conditioning, and dry windy conditions in parts of Oregon will be conducive to serious wildfires.

Sunday could see a high of 101 degrees in Portland, while Monday could get even hotter across the region — reaching 103 degrees in Portland, 106 in Canby and 108 degrees in Corvallis, according to the National Weather Service.

The temperatures start to drop slightly on Tuesday — to 100 degrees in Portland, 102 in Canby and 104 in Corvallis.

In Portland on Wednesday and Thursday, high temperatures will hover in the low- to mid-90s. They’re expected to drop back into the 80s on Friday and Saturday.

Oregonians and residents of Southwest Washington can call 211 or go to 211info.org to find a nearby cooling center. Or stay cool by visiting a splash pad or interactive fountain from Hillsboro to Sandy.

Anyone visiting a river or lake should wear a life jacket and take precautions to avoid deadly cold water shock.
